At Echidna Early Learning Centre, we are committed to the safety and wellbeing of every child in our care and promoting a child safe community in which they reside.
To ensure the safety and wellbeing of all children in our education and care service we commit to;
- implementing the 10 Child Safety Standards
- completing and implementing National Child Safety Training
- complete and implement Child Protection Training(educators only)
- providing a safe and supporting environment
- empowering children to respond to and disclose to a safe adult about any inappropriate interactions, where they feel unsafe or have any child safety concerns, including abuse, neglect, grooming, inappropriate content and language.
As an organisation we commit to;
- using child safe recruitment processes that include a Working with Children Check (WWCC) and other screening checks as appropriate and questionnaires.
- inducting all our stake holders to ensure they understand their role and responsibilities in keeping children safe.
- providing information and raising awareness for everyone involved in our organisation including students, volunteers and community members about what it means to be a child safe organisation. In doing so we can prevent, detect and effectively respond to child abuse.
- establishing a reporting framework so everyone knows how to respond and report about complaints, allegations, disclosures and breaches appropriately, in a timely and fair manner and forwarded to the relevant authorities.
- encouraging and welcoming feedback to continuously improve our child safe policies, procedures and practices.
- ensuring all family and community members whom interact with our organisation are aware that child safety is everyone’s responsibility and their behaviours must align with our child safe practices.
