What's On At Echidna?
The children at Echidna (from all age groups) enjoy learning and engaging in various organised events and activities each year. Experiences such as the wonderful Didgeridoo playing from 'Uncle Charlie', learning which comes first - the Chicken or the Egg and even inviting our valued grandparents to the centre for morning tea.
Nowra Police Visit
Our local police officers visited Echidna and gave the children the opportunity to explore the Police car and teach the children that the Police are their friends and are there to help. The highlight was listening to the siren.
Chicks R Us
The Chicks R Us is one of our favourite experiences. Week 1 is hatching week, discussing the process from egg to chicken. Week 2 is growing and caring week, with the children being encouraged to hold, care for and feed the chicks.
Childrens Yoga Classes
Our Yoga classes started in Feb 2013 - the children really embraced the excercises and learning to focus on stillness and relaxation. The 'Stingray' pose was the favourite of the day. The children are looking forward to next weeks yoga class with Katie - and learning new poses.
A very proud moment for our Pre-school children - off to big school next year. We will miss you all! Thank you for being part of the Echidna family.
Past Events & Activities
Fun, Fun And MORE Fun!
All the children love participating in our Disco week, Dress-up week, Pyjama Party week and Baking days. We see lots of colourful costumes and PJ's plus weird and wonderful baking results. We also encourage children to bring along and share their pets. We have enjoyed ponies, reptiles, bunnies, puppies and birds.
Easter Raffle (Yum Chocolate Time!)
Our incredibly supportive families provide easter eggs for our yearly Easter raffle. Lots of prizes up for grabs, the money raised goes towards new resources for the children. Lots of YUMMY chocolate had by all!
Mothers! What can't they do? Taxi service, chef extraordinaire, costume designer and hair dresser... Mothers give us unconditional love no matter what we do. To celebrate these very special people we held a morning tea, danced the hokey pokey and wombat wobble with the children. Lots of fun was had by all!
The children were encouraged to come dressed in orange and bring a gold coin donation to support the Australian Orangutan Project. Teachers and children discussed their fragile environment that's being rapidly destroyed and how to be a part of the solution.
Yellow Day Walk-A-Thon
The children were involved in supporting the community by raising funds for cancer research. The children raised $1,400 walking around the brightly decorated yellow themed playground with the teachers. What a terrific achievement!
Our Grandparents are very special people, what would we do without them? To show our love and appreciation we invited our grandparents for morning tea. What a turn out! Thank you for coming, the children really enjoyed showing you their day at Echidna.
